TCU head coach Raegan Pebley
On the win over UC Irvine:
"I am really proud of how the team played at the end of the first half and the start of the second half in coming out and really settling down, finishing shots and buckling down on defense."
On Veja Hamilton's play:
"I think her teammates put her in good situations, and one of the things she does really well is set great screens and come off of screens and her teammates set screens. The offense is about scoring, I get that, but there is a lot that leads up to that. It was great to see that we were able to find such balance. We have so many people that can be that leading scorer for us."
On the progress of the team:
"Our team is becoming a better practice team and I'm a coach if you don't want practice you shouldn't play for me. If you don't practice well you won't see minutes in the game. As the team has gotten better at being a good practice team we reward them with opportunities in games.
"We're going to be a team that's going to keep getting better through February. I think this team has become a better practice team and it's helping us be more consistent in games. I think we are rebounding better heading into conference."
On Veja's play off the bench:
"We need someone to bring that kind of energy that has some versatility that we can sub in in multiple positions."
Junior guard Veja Hamilton
On her hot shooting:
"I think my teammates did a good job of finding me in open spots and I tried to capitalize on the shots when I had the chance. Irvine gave me some space and when they did I shot with confidence.
"I don't think there is a better feeling, honestly. It's probably one of the first nights for me that I felt as confident as I did when I was shooting and I think it sparked me on offense and defense and finding my teammates in open spots as well."
On scoring a career high:
"I think it gives me great confidence going into conference play so that I can continue to contribute to the team."
