LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- TCU co-offensive coordinator Doug Meacham has been named one of five finalists for the Broyles Award, presented to the nation's top assistant coach.
In his first season at TCU, Meacham has the Horned Frogs as the nation's most improved offense in both total yards (+181.0 ypg) and scoring (+21.0 ppg) from last season. The 21.0 increase in scoring is on pace to set a Big 12 record and would be the largest improvement by any team since Northwestern (24.0 ppg) between 1999-00.
TCU is also on pace for single-season school records for points, first downs, plays, passing yards and total offense.
The Horned Frogs are third in the nation in scoring offense (46.1 ppg) and fifth in total offense (525.8 ypg).
Meacham is also TCU's inside receivers coach.
While serving as the Horned Frogs' defensive coordinator in 2000, TCU head coach Gary Patterson was a finalist for the Broyles Award. Current TCU defensive coordinator/defensive line coach Dick Bumpas was a Broyles Award finalist for three consecutive seasons (2008-10).
