
Rifle Set for Double Duty in Kentucky

FORT WORTH - The TCU Rifle team will look to build off its most recent win when it travels to Murray, Ky., to face off with Murray State and Jacksonville State on Sunday.
Hannah Black paces the squad in air rifle (594) and aggregate (1,172) on the season, Sally Li is TCU's smallbore leader with an average of 580.
TCU got a huge boost from freshman Mindy Miles in a 4,670-4,663 win over Alaska on Sunday. She shot a personal-best 597 in air rifle in just her third collegiate match, raising her season average to 590. The performance was tied for ninth-best in TCU history.
Seven shooters set either season or career-highs in aggregate in the victory, highlighted by Miles, Nicholle Benedict, Katie Bridges and Claudia Duksa reaching new plateaus in multiple disciplines.
Murray State is 2-1 on the season to go along with a seond-place at the Ole Miss Invitational on Oct. 4. Ben Estes is the team's top smallbore performer with a 580 average on the season, while Kelsey Emme is tops in air rifle at a 590 clip. Emme's 1,166 is the best on the squad in aggregate.
Jacksonville State is undefeated on the season, winning the Ole Miss Invitational and Memphis Invite before beating The Citadel in its last outing on Oct. 20. Cole Tucker was the Gamecocks' top air rifle performer with a 591, second among all shooters. Samantha Bullard took home medalist honors in smallbore with a 583.
TCU faced off with both squads in Murray on Oct. 27, 2013, finishing in third place. Kelly Bogart fired a career-high 576 in smallbore. All three teams were separated by just eight points. The Horned Frogs did later defeat Jacksonville State on Nov. 15 and finish second at the Gamecock Invitational on Nov. 25.
The Horned Frogs will see JSU again Nov. 1 and Nov. 2, when the Gamecocks join Nevada for three-way battles each day in Fort Worth.
