OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - Sophomore and returning NCEA All-America honoree Erin Gillette had a strong showing at the AQHA Horsemanship Challenge Wednesday.
In an event that featured the top NCEA and IHSA Horsemanship riders, Gillette, a Palos Verdes, Calif., native, battled West Texas A&M's Julia Roberts to a 139.5-139.5 draw, but moved on to the second round after winning the tiebreaker. In the second round, Gillette fell to Ohio State's Austin Griffith, 141.5-141, to end her run in Oklahoma City.
Gillette, who by being selected for the event is considered one of the top-eight Horsemanship riders in the NCEA, joined fellow Big 12 counterparts Kelly Boviard (K-State), Katy Krshka (Oklahoma State) and Parris Rice (Baylor) at the AQHA World Championship Show Wednesday.
No. 8 TCU will next be in action Saturday against No. 4 Georgia. Start time is set for 11:00 a.m. CT at Turning Point Ranch.
