POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU 54, Boise State 52
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Jan. 21, 2011
Attendance: 4,995
TCU HEAD COACH Jim Christian
On the importance of his team's defensive effort to the comeback:
"It was huge for us. We had lost our last two (games). I was so proud of those last 10 (defensive) possessions. That's what you need to do to win. In the first half we missed a few shots, and I think that kind of affected our defense. We got a little frustrated on that end and let it get in the way on the other one."
On his team's shooting struggles:
"We had great shots against the zone. Even when we missed a few, we just have to keep playing. I thought the main part of the game we needed to improve on was offensive rebounding."
On the performance of freshman guard Kyan Anderson:
"We ask a lot of Kyan as a freshman. He gets a lot better each day and he is always trying. He's handling criticism very well and he's working hard every day. He deserves everything he gets."
TCU FRESHMAN GUARD Kyan Anderson
On the comeback:
"We just decided we would keep chipping at the lead and keep fighting all game and the guys and I knew we could do it. It means a lot, especially after these last two games, so we worked on a lot of situational things in practice."
On his team's defensive effort:
"We knew [we were in a hole early], but you have to stay on top on the defensive end to stay in the game.
"We got a little shaken up early but we adapted real fast and understood what [the problem] was and were able to get into the gaps and make some good plays."
On the importance of the crowd to the team:
"The crowd being there helped us out a lot and we had a lot of energy. We felt like we needed to keep it going to get the win. It was a big momentum boost, getting this win at home."
BOISE STATE HEAD COACH LEON RICE
On his team's performance:
"I thought we played a lot of really good minutes and then they made their run on us. The wheels came off a little bit with us. We lost our poise. They made some big shots, some tough shots, and some big rebounds, too. It was a tough battle and we were there to steal one on the road and didn't get it done.
On what his team can take from the game:
"It's such a tough league that you have to take advantage when you have a chance, and we had a chance. But you have to credit TCU, they did a great job of finishing the game and they've been good at finishing games throughout the year."
