Final: No. 14 TCU 48, Baylor 50
Team Notes
*TCU's 13-game winning streak, which had been the second longest in the nation (Auburn, 15), was snapped. The Horned Frogs suffered their first loss since a 17-10 defeat to Boise State in the 2010 Fiesta Bowl.
*The Horned Frogs had a nation's best 25-game regular season winning streak come to a close. TCU had not lost a regular-season contest since a 13-10 defeat at Utah on Nov. 6, 2008.
*TCU's nation-best 11-game road winning streak, which was a Mountain West Conference record, came to an end.
*TCU rallying from a 24-point deficit represented its largest comeback to take a lead in 11 seasons under head coach Gary Patterson. The previous best was an 18-point comeback at BYU in 2005 en route to a 51-50 overtime victory.
*TCU saw a streak of winning 51 games in a row when rushing for at least 167 yards come to an end. The Horned Frogs ran for 215 yards Friday.
*TCU's 25 fourth-quarter points marked its most in a single quarter since totaling 28 in the second quarter of a 67-7 home victory over Stephen F. Austin on Sept. 6, 2008.
*TCU's 48 points were its most against Baylor in the 107 games of the all-time series between the teams.
*TCU and Baylor are now tied 50-50-7 in the all-time series.
Individual Notes
*TCU had nine players (five defensive, four offensive) make their first career starts tonight: defensive end Braylon Broughton, nose tackle Ray Burns, safety Sam Carter, offensive tackle Robert Deck, safety Johnny Fobbs, center James Fry, tight end Corey Fuller, quarterback Casey Pachall and cornerback Jason Verrett.
*TCU played six true freshmen, already the most true freshmen to play in a season in the 11-year tenure of head coach Gary Patterson. The following true freshmen saw action tonight: wide receivers Brandon Carter, David Porter and Cam White, linebacker Deryck Gildon, nose tackle Chuck Hunter and defensive tackle Jon Lewis.
*Greg McCoy had a TCU single-game school record 229 kickoff return yards on six attempts. The previous mark was 191 yards on eight returns by Cory Rodgers against Louisville in 2004. McCoy's long of 73 yards was the second-best return of his career, surpassed only by an 81-yard touchdown at Wyoming in 2009.
*In his first career start, Pachall completed 25-of-39 passes for 251 yards with four touchdowns and one interception.
*Pachall notched the ninth four-touchdown passing performance for a TCU quarterback since Gary Patterson's arrival on campus in 1998. The four scores equaled previous Horned Frog starter Andy Dalton's single-game career high, accomplished four times.
*Pachall added a 9-yard first-quarter touchdown run for five total touchdowns. The score on the ground marked the third rushing touchdown of his career.
*Ten different Horned Frogs had at least one reception.
*Logan Brock had touchdown catches of 23 and 1 yards from Pachall, giving him a scoring grab in each of the last three regular-season games.
*Brock had the first multi-touchdown game of his career to go with a career-best four receptions for 41 yards.
*Brock became the first TCU tight end with two touchdowns in a game since Matt Schobel against Louisville on Nov. 23, 2001.
*Josh Boyce had a career-high nine receptions for 96 yards. His previous career-best total was eight catches last year versus BYU.
*Matthew Tucker's 4-yard first-quarter scoring run was his 16th career rushing touchdown, breaking a tie with Ed Wesley to become TCU's leader among active players.
*Skye Dawson had a career-long 32-yard rush in the second quarter.
*Ross Evans' 44-yard first-quarter field goal was his longest made kick since a 48-yard effort at San Diego State in 2009. He added a 27-yard field goal late in the fourth quarter to tive TCU a 48-47 lead.
*Jonathan Jones set a career high with two catches. He previously totaled one reception in five different games in his career. The two receptions marked his first catches since Oct. 10, 2009 versus Air Force.
*Carter had his first collegiate reception, a 6-yard grab in the fourth quarter.
*David Porter's first career catch was a 19-yard fourth-quarter touchdown reception that pulled TCU within 47-45 with 7:11 remaining in the game.
*Kevin White totaled eight tackles, including two for loss, in his collegiate debut.
*Tekerrein Cuba led TCU with nine total tackles.
