Joining Hester in double-digit kills was Sloane Sunstrum, who knocked down 10 kills on a team-high 27 swings. She added eight digs and a service ace to her stat line. Megan Munce dished out 35 assists and had seven digs. Yvonne Igodan tallied eight kills followed by seven from Jordan Raines. Defensively, Sarah Joeckel racked up 22 digs and was helped in the back row by nine digs from Raines, eight from Meghan Horio and seven from Munce.
A kill from Hester broke a 2-2 tie and set the Frogs on the path to victory in the first set. The kill spurred a 19-7 run that gave TCU a commanding 21-9 lead. The Horned Frogs dominated the service line with aces from Horio, Sunstrum and Joeckel in the run. Igodan and Hester were huge in the middle as they powered down four kills in the run.
The Eagles made a valiant effort to climb back in the set, putting together a 6-3 run, but a block from Hester and Raines on the outside gave the Frogs set point and Raines finished off the 25-15 victory.
An 8-1 run lead to open up the second set had the Frogs well on their way to a 2-0 match lead. Hester dominated the middle with five kills in the early run and a kill from Sunstrum gave the Frogs a double-digit cushion, 16-6.
Boston College pulled back within six with a 6-2 run, 19-13, but a service error put the Frogs back on the offensive and Hester served out the rest of the set. Igodan provided the highlight in the run with a solo block in the middle and the Eagles helped out with three hitting errors. Igodan sealed the 25-13 win with a kill.
TCU completed the sweep, winning a competitive 25-20 third set. The teams battled through four ties and one lead change before a kill from Raines put the Frogs in front to stay. Mattie Burleson and Emily Kirby gave the Frogs their largest lead of the set, 13-8.
The Eagles eventually pulled back within two, 20-18, but a kill from Burleson staunched the Boston College rally. Sunstrum gave the Frogs match point and Raines finished off the victory.
TCU improves to 11-0 on the season. The Frogs will play again Friday afternoon against NJIT. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
