The Series Between TCU and SMU
With TCU opening the season against SMU, here is a more in-depth look at the series between the two cross-town rivals.
In six years, the Frogs and Mustangs have competed against each other six different times with TCU leading the all-time series, 4-2. The Purple and White, who have won three of the last four meetings, posted a 7-4 decision over SMU in 2011.
A Closer Look At The TCU Roster
When breaking down the equestrian roster this fall, one might notice a few changes from a year ago. Only six seniors date the current roster, while a total of 14 freshmen could possibly make their first appearance in a Horned Frog uniform this season.
The Frogs' hometowns are well represented throughout the United States. Overall, Texas boasts the most current Horned Frogs with 11, while 10 different Frogs represent the state of California.
A Look Back
TCU opened the 2010-11 season with an impressive victory over the Mustangs. Recent graduate Milana Trimino claimed MVP accolades as the TCU Hunt Seat squad downed SMU at October Hill Farm, 7-4.
Overall, the Horned Frogs captured both Equitation over Fences and Equitation on the Flat. The Purple and White won Equitation over Fences, 4-2. TCU also posted a 3-2 victory in Equitation on the Flat.
On the day, returnees Callie Selchau and Haley Jacobi both went 2-0 in competition, respectively, while now senior Victoria Lee earned a 76-75 victory over Marissa Djernes in Equitation over Fences.
What's Next
Following its season-opening game against SMU, TCU will hit the road to take on South Carolina, Auburn, Kansas State and Georgia. The Frogs won't return to the state of Texas until an Oct. 28 visit to Texas A&M. TCU will open its home season at October Hill Farm on Nov. 5 against West Texas A&M.
