
Three Frogs Named ITA Scholar-Athletes

FORT WORTH - Three TCU women's tennis players have been named ITA Scholar-Athletes for their efforts on the court and in the classroom, it was announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association.
To be eligible for consideration, student-athletes must have earned a varsity letter, accumulated a grade point average of at least 3.5 and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
Honorees for TCU were junior Federica Denti, senior Gaby Mastromarino and graduated senior Katariina Tuohimaa. Mastromarino and Tuohimaa earned the honor for the second-straight year, while Denti picked it up in her first year on campus.
On the court in 2011, Mastromarino and Tuohimaa were both named to the All-Mountain West singles team, while Tuohimaa was also named to the doubles team. She was named All-MWC in singles and doubles each of her four years at TCU.
TCU opens the 2011 fall season Sept. 16 at the Midland Invitational.
