FORT WORTH - TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte announced the hiring of Logan Fiorentino to the position of head coach in charge of the equestrian hunt seat team.
Fiorentino comes to Fort Worth after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant at the University of Georgia after competing for the Bulldogs from 2004-2007. While at Georgia, Fiorentino coached the 2010 VENC Hunt Seat National Championship team and the 2011 VENC Hunt Seat Reserve National Championship.
Additionally, she helped mentor the 2009 and 2010 Individual Over Fence National Champions and Individual Over Fence Reserve National Champions.
In 2009, Fiorentino assumed head-coaching duties for the Bulldogs for three months while UGA coach Meghan Boenig was on maternity leave. She also was responsible for all recruiting for the hunt seat team as well as adding more than 20 horses to the team herd, including the development of younger horses.
"We are very excited to have Logan join the TCU family," TCU director of intercollegiate athletics Chris Del Conte said. "Logan is a perfect fit for us. She competed at a high level as a student-athlete and has been part of a very successful program at the University of Georgia. We were able to meet and observe Logan during our many competitions against Georgia the last few years. In addition to being an outstanding recruiting, she brings a wealth of experience and expertise in hunt seat competition.
"We believe Logan will be a great asset for us in reaching our goal of winning a national championship."
Outside of the arena, Fiorentino handled all compliance education for the Bulldogs, hired all hunt seat judges for home competitions, assisted in the handling of the team budget and designed the hunt seat team uniforms.
"I'm very excited to be joining the TCU equestrian program," Fiorentino said. "This is a program with unlimited potential and I look forward to working with the student-athletes, staff and supporters of TCU Equestrian. I'm very thankful to the administration for creating this opportunity and I'm excited for the start of the 2011-2012 season."
Fiorentino graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Georgia in 2006 with a bachelor's of science in sport business. She followed that with a master's degree in sport management in 2007. A member of the United States Equestrian Federation, Fiorentino has been a member of various Varsity Equestrian steering committees since 2008.
Current TCU equestrian coach Gary Reynolds will remain with the program as head coach of the western team.
