
Weik Named MWC Co-Player of the Week

SAN DIEGO, Calif - TCU senior first baseman Joe Weik has been named the MWC Co-Player of the Week for his efforts in leading the Horned Frogs to a perfect 4-0 record last week. The honor is the second of his career and the eighth of the season for TCU.
Weik went 9-for-17 (.529) with one double and one home run as seventh-ranked TCU posted a 4-0 record last week.
Against Oral Roberts, Weik's lone hit drove in what proved to be the game-winning run in the sixth inning of the 6-4 decision.
In the Horned Frogs' three-game sweep of New Mexico, the Grapevine, Texas, native was 8-for-13 (.615) with seven RBI and seven runs scored. He tallied seven consecutive hits and reached base safely in eight straight plate appearances during the first two games of the series. Weik also drove in six runs and scored four times as the Horned Frogs defeated the Lobos by 9-0 and 25-16 margins, respectively.
He closed out the series with one hit, one RBI and one run scored in Saturday's 12-8 decision.
On the field, Weik registered 44 putouts and one assist without an error at first base.
Kyle Winkler has been honored by the conference on three occasions. He was selected on Feb. 21 for his performance against Kansas, on March 8 for his outing against Texas Tech and April 4 for his 15-strike effort against Air Force. Andrew Mitchell was also honored this season on Feb. 28. Steven Maxwell was tabbed Pitcher of the Week on April 11. Jason Coats was honored on April 18 and Weik earned his first honor of the season on May 9.
