Frogs Suffer 5-2 Loss To New Mexico State

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU men's tennis stumbled to a 5-2 loss to New Mexico State at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center Friday.
"It was a very disappointing loss tonight," TCU head coach David Roditi said. "We have to find a way to win matches after losing the first set. We need every guy ready to come to play every time we play. We can't afford to not have a couple of guys show up. We are not going to win. Everybody's got to show up every time we play and we're not doing that right now. It's some guys one night, others another night. We have to have everyone."
The Horned Frogs jumped on the Aggies early by taking the doubles point with wins at the Nos. 1 and 3 courts. TCU's top doubles tandem of senior Emanuel Brighiu and Christopher Price, currently listed the No. 44 pairing in the country, defeated NMSU's team of Jim Brouleau and Matej Stackne, 8-3. The Frogs' Paul Chappell and Cameron Nash followed with an 8-6 win.
In the singles portion, TCU added to its team lead after senior Zach Nichols earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Stakne from the No. 4 court. After the Frogs' took the 2-0 lead, New Mexico State rallied off five-straight wins to hand the Frogs their ninth loss of the spring.
No. 61 TCU (5-9) will now take to the road for matches at Oklahoma (March 20) and Rice (March 26).
