FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU volleyball head coach Prentice Lewis announced the hiring of Holly Jones as the newest member of her staff. Jones makes the move from graduate assistant to assistant coach. She joined the staff in the summer of 2009.
"Holly has worked tireless hours for our program and has shown me and my athletes complete loyalty," raved Lewis. "She was able to master our statistical computer system and has helped with much of the day-to-day organization of the program. Holly is very competitive and understands the game at a high level. We are pleased that Holly chose to stay at TCU and look forward to her continued contributions."
"Having been a part of the TCU volleyball program for the past two years, I am honored and thrilled to have the opportunity to continue contributing to the growth of such a distinguished and successful program," said Jones.
Jones has spent the past two campaigns as the graduate assistant helping to coordinate travel, serving as the camp director of Prentice Lewis camps and running the statistical program, Data Project.
In her first season with the Horned Frogs she helped guide the team to their first-ever NCAA Tournament berth. The team set a school-record with 27 victories and posted an overall mark of 27-7 while advancing to the second round of postseason play. She was instrumental in the nomination process of eventual AVCA Honorable Mention All-American honorees, Megan Munce, Kourtney Edwards and Christy Hudson, TCU's first-ever AVCA All-Americans. She was responsible for putting together the nomination videos for the trio as well as filing the necessary paperwork.
Jones' influence also played a key role in 2010 as the team battled through multiple injuries to a 15-16 record. Irene Hester and Hudson were tabbed all-Mountain West Conference at the conclusion of the season. At the completion of the season, Jones graduated with her Master's of Liberal Arts degree.
She began her coaching career in 2003 at the Junior National level as the Co-Head coach of 13 Brazos Valley Juniors Volleyball Club. Since then she has coached for several distinguished Texas clubs including Skyline Juniors and Texas Advantage Volleyball, where she served as assistant coach in addition to running positional training clinics. Currently, Jones is the head coach for Texas Image Volleyball 17 Mizuno.
Outside of club volleyball, Jones began working Texas A&M summer camps in 2003 and worked every summer camp through 2007. She has also been a lead camp coach for All-American volleyball camps the past two summers, overseeing and directing satellite camp operations.
On the court, Jones had a successful tenure at Texas A&M University from 2002-2005. As a three-year starting libero for the Aggies, she helped guide the squad to four consecutive NCAA appearances, including a Sweet Sixteen appearance in 2003. From 2003-2005, she was awarded with the team's Best Defensive Player honor and holds a place in the record books in digs per season with 461 digs in 2005, ranking fifth all-time. Jones' success was not limited to the court, garnering Big 12 all-academic second team in 2004 as well as first team honors in 2005. Other academic accomplishments included being named a Texas A&M/Verizon scholar athlete, a member on the Communications Honors List and the Dean's list. Jones completed her undergraduate degree in 2006 with a Bachelors degree in Communications and minor in Business.
The Houston native, formerly Holly Clay, married Blake Jones on May 22, 2010.
