Frogs Open Competition in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, Nev.—The TCU men's golf team opened play Friday at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Masters held at Southern Highlands Golf Course. The tournament continues Saturday before concluding Sunday.
The Horned Frogs finished the day tied for eighth place while combining for an 8-over-par score of 301. Texas A&M (-8) leads the field by 12 shots over second-place Arizona State (+4).
Two Frogs finished the day under par, as both Pontus Gad and Daniel Jennevret tied for seventh place following respective 1-under rounds of 71. Jennevret, playing for the first time since last month's Amer Ari Invitational, opened his round 5-under par and finished the day with six birdies overall. Gad totaled five birdies on the day, including back-to-back on holes 17 and 18 to erase a 2-over par start to his round.
Johan de Beer (T-42nd) and Tom Hoge (72nd) also counted towards TCU's team total with respective rounds of 77 (+5) and 82 (+10). Scott Roudebush, who fired an 11-over 83, rounded out the Frog lineup in 73rd place.
Competition continues Saturday with the second of the tournament's three 18-hole rounds.
