
Winkler Honored As MWC Pitcher of the Week

FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU junior Kyle Winkler has been named the MWC Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Wednesday. It is the third straight week the Horned Frogs have won the award and the second time this season that Winkler has earned the award. It's the fourth honor of Winkler's career.
Winkler pitched 8.0 scoreless innings en route to the victory in TCU's 7-0 win at Texas Tech last Friday. The Sugar Land, Texas native fanned a season-high nine batters without a walk, surrendering just four singles in the contest. He retired the final eight batters he faced, including seven by strikeout.
Additionally, Winkler was named InsidePitching.com Midwest Region Performer of the Week.
Winkler was twice tabbed the MWC Pitcher of the Week in 2010. He earned his first honor on April 19 for his performance at BYU. His second honor came on May 24 for his performance against Cal State Bakersfield. He was honored earlier this season for his performance on opening weekend against Kansas. Andrew Mitchell was honored on March 1 as the Pitcher of the Week.
