POSTGAME QUOTES
TCU 85, Grambling State 53
Fort Worth, Texas (Daniel-Meyer Coliseum)
Dec. 22, 2011
Attendance: 4,169
TCU HEAD COACH Jim Christian
On TCU's performance:
"This was the start of four games in a row at home to end the non-conference schedule, and it was important to us to go into the Christmas break feeling well. I was really unhappy with the way we played defense in the last couple of games, but I thought tonight was one of our better defensive performances of the season. We have especially struggled playing on the ball, and it was good to see us play well tonight. As a coach you worry about this game, because they are about to go home for Christmas and they just got done with all of their finals, but I thought we had the right mindset tonight. I was proud of them."
On the impact of playing well during the homestand:
"It's huge because we head into conference play after that and we want to build up as much momentum as we can. We were starting to get there a week and a half ago, and now we get a chance to do it again."
On bouncing back after a tough loss on the road Monday:
"I thought we learned a lot about ourselves going on the road to USC. We were very disappointed in the way we played and how hard we played, but we changed that tonight. All you can do is ask them to keep learning and keep getting better."
TCU SENIOR FORWARD Craig Williams
On the importance of Thursday's win:
"It was really important to win tonight, especially coming off of the USC loss. That loss really hurt, because we had high expectations. So it was important for us to come out and catch ourselves, because these four games at home are huge heading into conference play."
On playing well at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum:
"We know how good of a home team that we can be, so it is really important for us to come out here and take care of business and protect our home court."
On enjoying his first career double-double (25 points, 10 rebounds):
"I was just playing basketball. Coach (Christian) tells me to just play. I was trying to read the point guard and the ball coming off of the rim. I was fortunate to have a good game tonight."
