TCU HEAD COACH Jim Christian
On the overall performance by TCU:
"We had our stretches. When we got the lead where we wanted it, we took our foot off the gas defensively … giving up a lay-up, turning the ball over … stuff that happens kind of at the beginning of the year. There were stretches we looked really good and stretches we didn't play as well as we would like. I think we have a lot of things we can build on."
On FGCU's comeback:
"I tip my hat off to them. They scratched and clawed the whole game. I think we gave them three easy buckets and turned it over twice the next two possessions. That's the kind of thing I'm talking about. We have a lot of new guys. Right now, I thought we did a bad job understanding time and score in the game with the kind of shots that we took."

On the defensive performance:
"We've got to pick it up on the defensive end. We showed we can play defense. We stopped them in the first half, we held them to 19 percent at one point and then we gave up too many easy buckets. But it was our first game. We're happy to get the win, and we're going to get better from there."

"I like it. Last year, our press was not that effective. Having the press be effective this year means a lot. If we learn from the mistakes we made tonight and correct those, we can be a pretty good team."

"The first half was very sloppy for us. We had 17 turnovers among our four freshmen, and it's not an excuse, but it was their first time, first college game. We didn't execute like we needed to from a pressure standpoint. When they pressured us we made a lot of inexperienced plays. But on the flip side, I'm very proud of our team for coming back. We played extremely hard and we gave ourselves a chance to win. That's all we wanted coming into this game. We thought we could win this game and wanted to give ourselves a chance to win. We gave ourselves a chance to win, and I'm extremely proud of our team."
