The exhibition contest marked the Horned Frogs' first and only tune-up before next week's season opener at No. 13 Georgia.
Delisa Gross, a junior from Waco, led all scorers Tuesday, dropping 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-8 from deep. Whitney Williams, who saw her first action in a Horned Frog uniform, also had a solid night, scoring 15 points on 5-of-9 shooting from the field. Senior Antoinette Thompson tied a career-high with 10 points, while freshman Natalie Ventress chipped in with 13 points.
Cameron was led on the night by Julie Pendarvis, who scored 19 points on 7-of-13 shooting, including 4-of-8 from three. Ali Brown and Alexis Williams followed with eight and seven points, respectively.
Up 43-32 at the break, TCU blew the game wide open in the second half by holding the Aggies scoreless for nearly 4 minutes of play. During that stretch, the Frogs went on an impressive 15-4 run, which was aided by several key triples. For the game, TCU shot 42.4 percent from the floor and connected on 11 treys, including six in the first half alone.
The Aggies would cut into the Frog lead, opening the second half on a 4-0 run, but Gross continued the Frogs barrage from deep off an assist from Williams. Williams then helped the Purple and White nail another triple a few moments later from the corner and TCU, who recorded a 21-2 advantage in points off turnovers in the second half, put it on cruise control for the rest of the period.
Meagan Henson put an exclamation mark on the game, picking an Aggie and driving coast-to-coast for an easy bucket as the Frogs closed the game on a 12-3 run to bring the final score to 80-52.
Back-to-back triples by Thompson and Gross gave the Frogs a 10-9 advantage with about 13 minutes to go in the first half. Thompson, the lone senior on this year's squad, would then ignite a mini-run a few moments later, connecting on a tough three-point play. In all, Thompson scored six of TCU's first 15 points of the half.
Freshman Chelsea Prince, who closed the game with a team-high six boards, would give the Frogs a 20-16 lead at the 8:46 mark of the first half. Cameron pulled within two with a little over 7 minutes remaining in the half with a triple of its own, but Gross found the bottom of the net to move the score back to four points.
The two teams would trade possessions, but Williams nailed her second deep trey of the half to move the TCU lead to 31-27 at the 5:02 mark. The Frogs then proceeded to go on an 8-3 run late in the half to open the game up a little bit at 39-30.
Thompson closed out the half scoring a driving lay-up to bring the halftime score to 43-32 at the break.
TCU will open its season on Nov. 11 at No. 13 Georgia. Start time is set for 5:00 p.m. CT.
