FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU baseball team and head coach Jim Schlossnagle were recipients of two of the four awards presented by FieldTurf and Evan Longoria as part of the 5th annual FieldTurf Baseball awards. TCU was named the NCAA Team of the Year, while Schlossnagle garnered Coach of the Year accolades.
For Schlossnagle, FieldTurf is the second entity to honor the head coach as the National Coach of the Year. The NCBWA presented Coach Schlossnagle with its National Coach of the Year award in a ceremony in Omaha. He has led the program to four straight 40-win campaigns and boasts a record of 305-134 in seven seasons as the head coach at TCU. The Frogs are one of just 14 teams to appear in the last seven NCAA tournaments.
As a team, the Frogs made program history in 2010. TCU posted a school-record 54-14 record and made its first-ever appearance in the College World Series. The Frogs took home both the Mountain West regular season and tournament titles before sweeping through the Fort Worth Regional. TCU took two-of-three at Texas in the Super Regionals to earn its spot in the College World Series. The Frogs went 3-2 in their first trip to Omaha and finished the season ranked No. 3 by all the major polls.
