
Horned Frogs Open The Year Downing SMU, 7-4

Overall, the Horned Frogs captured both Equitation over Fences and Equitation on the Flat on Friday. The Purple and White won Equitation over Fences, 4-2. TCU also posted a 3-2 victory in Equitation on the Flat on Friday afternoon.
Trimino, who recorded her third MVP of her career, tallied a total score of 85 in Equitation on the Flat to earn MVP honors. The senior from Ladera Ranch, Calif., tied Renick Townsend in front of nearly 90 spectators, 85-85. On the day, Callie Selchau, Haley Jacobi and Tassie Munroe all went 2-0 in competition, respectively.
In Equitation on the Flat, Munroe upended Morgan Toal, 79-77, while Selchau posted her first win of the season, defeating Julianna Fischer, 73-68. Finally, Jacobi, a sophomore from Scottsdale, Ariz., finished off the Frog scoring, beating Claire Wenholz, 77-69. Senior Jessica Hagen appeared to have given the Frogs another point in the event, but fell to Danielle Gersh, 84-80.
Selchau was just as dominate in Equitation over Fences, defeating Lucy Blundon, 81-74. Junior Victoria Lee followed with a 76-75 victory over Marissa Djernes, while Munroe, a senior from Valley Mills, upended Emily Gardner on Friday, 82-79. Jacobi rounded out the TCU scoring in the event, downing Lindsay Strafuss, 77-72.
With the win, TCU moved to 1-0 on the season, while SMU dropped to 0-1 to open the year. The Mustangs won the point total for the game, 927-896.
The Frogs will next be in action on Saturday, Oct. 2 at Tennessee-Martin.
