FORT WORTH, Texas - The following are quotes from head coach Dan Abdalla and players following TCU's 1-0 setback to No. 26 USC on Friday.Dan Abdalla
"It was our first Friday night game and I thought our atmosphere was great. The TCU fans are absolutely phenomenal and we definitely appreciate the city of Fort Worth because they make this one of the best atmospheres in college soccer."
"I thought we competed and are probably a week and a half behind of where I would like for us to be. We weren't as sharp with the ball as we needed to be tonight and seemed to be a touch off or a step slow to many times. We have to build on that though and be able to play quicker with our pace. The girls did a good job defensively and the challenge for our team is now to be able to play on that level on a consistent basis, so we can speed up our timing and rhythm."
"The first half, we tried to force the ball forward and we needed to keep it a little bit more against a good and athletic team like USC. The second half, we started to use the space and play our feet, which opened up our lanes for our strikers to move forward."
"This game gives us an idea of what we are capable of. We have to be able to do this on a consistent basis though. It can't just be one game. That is the challenge for this team as we move forward, but the good thing is that they have been training at that level. Now, they just have to do it day-in and day-out and I think we will be fine."
Kim Castleberry
"I feel like our team played very well. It was the next step in our progression towards conference. The crowd really got into the game and tempo was very good tonight. It was a great experience."
Jordan Calhoun
"It was our first Friday night game and we had over 2,000 fans here. It was awesome coming out of our new field house. Obviously, we didn't come away with the win, but we competed for a full 90 minutes tonight. We are where we need to be in our season and the result wasn't what we wanted, but we will be going forward in our season."
