FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 73 TCU women's tennis team hit the road this week to battle No. 64 UC Irvine Wednesday at Anteater Tennis Stadium in Irvine, Calif.
The Horned Frogs (5-12, 3-0 MWC) enter the match after taking three Mountain West Conference matches last weekend to conclude the home schedule. Senior Nina Munch-Soegaard and junior Katariina Tuohimaa each went unbeaten in singles play against Air Force, Colorado State and Wyoming, while the doubles pairing of junior Idunn Hertzberg and sophomore Gaby Mastromarino pushed their winning streak to four matches.
The Anteaters (7-9, 4-2 Big West) are currently ranked 64th in the country by the ITA rankings and have been ranked as high as 51st this season. Sophomore Stephanie Hammel is ranked 83rd in the country in singles, while Kristina Smith leads the team with a 14-2 record in singles. Smith and Brooke Bartlett are 7-5 on the year as a doubles team.
The Frogs have the only win in the all-time series with UCI, claiming a 9-0 victory on the road on March 9, 1987.
