FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 62 TCU women's tennis team returns home this weekend to host No. 47 Texas A&M (March 6) and No. 43 Illinois (March 7) at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The Horned Frogs will compete against teams outside of the ITA top-30 for the first time this season.
The Horned Frogs come back to Fort Worth after suffering through a tough road trip to Michigan, Alabama and Auburn. Senior Nina Munch-Soegaard went 2-1 during the stretch, while junior Katariina Tuohimaa continues to pace the squad with a 6-2 overall record. The Helsinki, Finland is riding a four-match winning streak into the weekend.
No. 47 Texas A&M (3-4) enters Saturday's match with TCU trying to rebound from a pair of losses to UNLV and South Florida. The Aggies have yet to play a home match this season, with their three wins coming on the road. TAMU is led in singles by No. 57 Elze Potgieter (5-2) and Nazari Urbina (6-1), while the Aggies also boasts three ranked doubles tandems.
No. 43 Illinois (4-6) tallied a solid 5-2 victory over then-No. 53 Harvard on Feb. 28. Individually, Rachael White leads the Illini at No. 94, while No. 112 Megan Fudge makes her season debut in singles and doubles with partner Leigh Finnegan at No. 46.
The Frogs hold a 22-17 advantage over the Aggies, following a 4-3 win in College Station last spring. Texas A&M hasn't defeated TCU in Fort Worth since 2002. TCU also leads the all-time series against Illinois, 3-1.
First serve is set for Noon in both matches this weekend.
