
Frogs Welcome No. 23 VCU Thursday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's tennis team will host No. 23 Virginia Commonwealth Thursday at the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The first serve of doubles action is set for 2 p.m., followed by singles play.
The Horned Frogs have three singles players and a pair of doubles teams listed in the latest Campbell's/ITA Women's National rankings. Sophomore Kayla Duncan is the top-ranked singles player for TCU, settling in at No. 88, while senior Nina Munch-Soegaard follows close behind at No. 89. Junior Katariina Tuohimaa rounds out the group, holding the No. 100 ranking in the country. In doubles action, the team of Duncan and Tuohimaa is currently listed as the No. 58 team in the nation, followed by the pairing of Duncan and Munch-Soegaard at No. 67.
VCU (12-2) is coming off decisive 5-2 wins over in-state rival and then 25th-ranked Virginia and at No. 73 Old Dominion. Seniors Laura Burns and Olena Leonchuk have combined for a 25-2 singles mark from the bottom half of the lineup. The doubles team of Burns and Kateryna Yergina are ranked No. 47 heading into the match.
TCU has taken the last two meetings between with the Black and Gold to own a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series.
Thursday's match will be the final non-conference match at home for the Frogs, as TCU will take on Wichita State and Notre Dame on the road next week before returning to the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center to host the opening weekend of Mountain West Conference action with Air Force, Wyoming and Colorado State, April 2-4.
