Peyro Named MWC Swimmer of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- TCU junior Edgar Peyro earned his first career Mountain West Conference Swimmer of the Week award Tuesday. The honor is the eighth handed to TCU from the league this season.

Peyro, from El Paso, Texas, helped TCU preserve its undefeated season with a 113.5-83.5 victory over Centenary College on Saturday. The junior earned two gold medals in the duel, finishing the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.78 and the 400-yard individual medley in 4:07.90. Peyro also anchored the Horned Frogs' 200-yard freestyle relay that touched in 1:26.25 for second place.

TCU will return home to conclude the 2009-10 regular dual meet season with a MWC showdown with No. 22 UNLV on Feb. 6. TCU will honor the 2009-10 senior class 10 minutes before the first event, which is set to begin at 4 p.m.
