TCU Head Coach Jeff Mitte
On the start of the game:
"We've been working extremely hard this week. They were hitting some shots and I think we had seven turnovers in the first six or seven minutes. When you do that its going to be hard to have success. We started playing better in the second half and I liked our defense. I think they had 20 points at the 10 minute mark and 24 for the half. It took us a while to get going, but once we did I thought we were good."
Main factors in having success tonight:
"We had a few girls feeling under the weather. I thought Antoinette Thompson played really well tonight. She gave us a lot of hustle plays. I thought she was very active. Overall, our bench played better tonight."
On Meagan Henson's performance tonight:
"Meagan was able to run that high pick-and-roll play and get to the rim off of it. That's a play that she has played pretty well for us. It was just a night where we felt like that coming off the break we were going to have to play a lot of people tonight and we were able to do that."
On Helena Sverrisdottir moving up the assist record books:
"The first year she came here, she played the power forward spot, but the way she played was kind of that trendy point/forward position. We've moved her around a lot. She has great vision and is able to pass from multiple areas on the floor. She's been very consistent over the past four years."
On the game against Oklahoma:
"We know they have an excellent team and that we had a great game against them in Norman last year. I think it was a four-point loss. They've got one of the top point guards in the country. Danielle Robinson is fantastic. They are a well balanced team and it should be a great match-up on Sunday."
TCU Junior Guard Antoinette Thompson
Her thoughts on Meagan Henson:
"I feel like she brings a lot of energy. She's very quick and a great point guard. She is a very good penetrator, which brings the defense in and leaves 3-point shooters open."
On playing Oklahoma point guard and All-American Danielle Robinson Sunday:
"I feel like she's a great point guard. It's going to be a tough game, but I feel like we can do it."
On the second half:
"Sometimes we start out a little slow, but coach usually gives us a pep talk, which picks us up a little bit. We end up having more energy, talking more as a team and being more enthusiastic about the game. It seems like we have more energy in the second half and play more as a team."
Building off the second half going into Oklahoma:
"I think it starts from the bench players being more enthusiastic about making great plays. We have to keep making those great plays and do what works for us."
