SOMERS, Wis. - CollegeSwimming.com has named TCU sophomore Sabine Rasch the Division I Women's Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer of the Week.
On Dec. 19, at the Chesapeake Elite Pro-Am Swim Meet in Oklahoma City, Rasch broke her own 100-freestyle school record for the third time this season. Her time of 50.12 was one-fourth of a second faster than her previous mark and is an NCAA "B" cut.
The Luckenwalde, Germany, native also led off TCU's 200-freestyle relay team, which swam to first-place honors in a time of 1:36.21.
Rasch becomes the first swimmer in the history of the TCU program to earn National Swimmer of the Week honors.
The previous TCU record in the 100-freestyle was a 50.83 set by Erica Tate in 2006. Since breaking that record with a 50.75 on Nov. 6, Rasch has bettered her own marks on three occasions.
Rasch has grabbed two NCAA "B" cuts this season, with the 100-freestyle cut and another in the 50-freestyle when she touched the wall in 22.96 on Dec. 2.
In her first year of competition with the Horned Frogs, Rasch has put her name at the top of TCU's 50-freestyle, 100-freestyle and 100-butterfly all-time performance lists.
