FORT WORTH - Emily Carter and Laszlo Gyurko are the TCU Athletes of the Week, the TCU Athletics Department announced Tuesday.
Carter set a school record on Nov. 17, when she poured in 43 points in TCU's two-overtime victory over crosstown rival SMU. The Bossier City, Louisiana, native notched another TCU record when she went 16-for-16 from the free-throw line.
On Nov. 19 at UTSA, Carter scored a game-high 22 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field. For the week, she averaged 32.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 assists per game.
Against UTSA, her streak of 60 consecutive free throws made came to an end, a mark that is the second-best all-time in the NCAA.
Men's swimmer Gyurko notched four wins in TCU's 168-132 win at Wyoming on Nov. 19. He won the 100-freestyle, 100-backstroke and led off the Horned Frogs' wins in the 200-medley relay and 400-freestyle relay.
Swimming at altitude for the first time this season, Gyurko notched individual times of 46.72 (100-free) and 50.72 (100-back) to go along with relay times of 1:32.05 (200-medley) and 3:04.98 (400-free).
His efforts gave him three individual event wins and four relay wins on the year and helped lift TCU coach Richard Sybesma to his 400th career win.
