
Equestrian Announces New Additions

Inking with the equestrian program for the 2011-12 school year were Samantha Bayer, Alexi Child, Carly Corbacho, Katie Gray, Kate Peterson, Calli Rouse, Alexandra Stiegler and Shelby Tsuji.
"Overall, this may be the best fall recruiting class we have ever signed," said Reynolds. "All in all, if I could have designed my recruiting year this is exactly how it would have gone. It is fantastic. I am really looking forward to getting these recruits on the team next year."
Bayer, who is considered one of the top recruits in the country for the 2011-12 class, has been a World Champion in both Reining and Cowhorse. She will compete for the Purple and White after claiming Reserve Championship accolades in Horsemanship at the American Quarter Horse Congress.
"Samantha is an incredible addition to our team," said Reynolds.
Child brings an impressive resume to Fort Worth after qualifying for and making the finals at the American Quarter Horse Youth World Show in Reining, Cutting and Cowhorse. She was also the 2010 OQHA Summer Circuit Youth Working Cowhorse Champion, while also claiming 2010 OQHA Year End High Point Youth Championship honors in Working Cowhorse and Reining.
"Alexi has a ton of experience in Cowhorse and Reining, which will serve her well in this sport," said Reynolds.
Corbacho, who is a three-time USEF Hunt Seat Medal finalist in Harrisburg, Pa., comes to TCU from Wellesley, Mass. She is a three-time Zone 1 ASPCA Maclay Regional selection, while also qualifying for the 2008 ASPCA Maclay Finals in Syracuse, N.Y. Corbacho currently competes in the HITS Ocala Florida Circuit, Vermont Summer Festival, Skidmore Saratoga, Syracuse Invitational and Pennsylvania National Horse Show. The winner of the 2007 Ameriprize Financial Junior Medal, Corbacho placed third at the 2007 Massachusetts Horseman's Council Junior Medal Finals, while also claiming the 2010 New England Junior Sportsmanship Award.
Gray will compete for the Horned Frogs next fall after earning multiple APHA World and Congress Championships. She has also posted several High Point titles.
"Katie is another one of those great riders that we continue to recruit from the paints," said Reynolds.
Peterson comes to TCU from California. She will compete in Horsemanship for TCU next fall.
"Kate has great form and will add to a tremendous set of horsemanship riders," said Reynolds.
Rouse, a Reserve World Champion in Western Riding , placed in the top-8 in Western Riding, Horsemanship, Trail, Equitation, Hunter Under Saddle and Western Pleasure at the 2010 AQHA World Show. The Canada native, who has earned multiple all-around titles, currently ranks No. 11 in the national All-Around standings. At the 2009 World Show, Rouse turned in a sixth-place showing in Horsemanship and Trail. She also placed 10th overall in Equitation.
Stiegler, an Irvine, Calif., native will don the Purple and White next fall after earning first-place accolades at the LAHJA Jr. Medal Finals and Los Angeles National Equitation Challenge. Overall, she has placed in the top 11 at both the ASPCA Maclay National Medal Finals as well as the WCE Medal Finals. Stiegler, who placed first overall at both the Marshall and Sterling Regional Medal Finals, has qualified two-straight years for the USEF National Medal Finals. She recently placed sixth overall at the Capitol Challenge, while also earning ninth-place accolades at the ASPCA Maclay Regionals.
Tsuji brings a wealth of experience to TCU after competing for the Palos Verdes High School Sea King Equestrian Team in California. Tsuji recently competed at the AQHA YOUTH WORLD SHOW in Oklahoma City, Okla.
"We are looking forward to getting Shelby in here and fitting her into the overall scheme the next few years," said Reynolds.
TCU, who is currently the No. 5 ranked team in the nation, will next be in competition Sunday, Jan. 30 against Delaware State.
