- TCU improved to 2-0 for the second straight season and the fourth time in the last five years.
- The Frogs won for the third straight time against SMU and is now 15-5 in the last 20 meetings.
- The 20-point margin of victory marked the squad's largest against SMU since an 87-63 win in Dallas on Jan. 25, 1997.
- Hank Thorns reached double figures in assists (10) for the second straight game to open his TCU career. He totaled four assists between the 11:22 and 7:35 media timeouts of the first half that saw the Frogs race out to an early 20-point lead.
- Junior Garlon Green fell just shy of his career scoring high (18) with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting. The seven field goals were three more than he had previously made in a single contest.
- Sammy Yeager's four steals equaled the most any Frog recorded in a game all of last season (Kevin Butler, 4 vs. Northern Colorado).
- TCU is shooting 55.9 percent (66-of-119) from the field through its opening two games this season, including 57.9 percent (22-of-35) from 3-point range.
- TCU outscored the Mustangs 27-10 in points off turnovers and 22-9 on the fast break.
