POSTGAME QUOTES
No. 5 TCU 45, Wyoming 0
Fort Worth, Texas (Amon G. Carter Stadium)
Oct. 9, 2010
Attendance: 38,081
TCU Head Coach Gary Patterson
On moving through the schedule:
"We're two games into what we consider the second part of the season. The non-conference schedule was the first part, now we've got BYU and Air Force to finish out the second part at home. We've got a seven-day window to get ready to play. We'll see how they do tonight, start watching film tomorrow and get ready to go."
On his team's performance:
"Offensively, I thought we were efficient and we did what we needed to do today. Defensively, we seem to be getting a lot better with attention to detail. They hit the double-reverse pass and we let a couple of passes there at the end when the No. 2s were in. Outside of that, I thought we did a fine job."
On the offense's efficiency at home:
"We seem to play faster at home. The key will be when we go back on the road to see whether we'll play faster when we start in our next away game. We were fired up. I thought the heat made a big difference on Wyoming. They were trying to rotate and do some stuff. When you're not used to it and you come here in the high 80s and low 90s. We wore those guys down a little bit."
On his defense earning back-to-back shutouts for the first time since 1955:
"I didn't know that. That's cool. For me, I just go back to the W. I was excited for our kids. We had to make some adjustments with some calls and how we lined up and our kids did a good job. It was an interesting day. Some good things happened because players had to think and they had to react on both sides of the football."
On Tekerrein Cuba's play of late:
"He's done a great job. He's doing right now, the last two ballgames, exactly what we expected him to do as a young player. He's been injured, but finally he's gotten healthy and made some big plays. He's out of East Texas; he's out of Tyler. We've got a lot of kids from East Texas. He's starting to come into a zone. He's always had something that nagged at him injury-wise. He's finally getting a chance to be healthy and successful. With Alex Ibiloye being a senior, to know we're going to have a guy at the weak safety position that can play like he's playing is a big deal to us."
Wyoming Head Coach Dave Christensen
On the game
"As advertised, they are everything we thought they were. They are an experienced football team and a very good football team. Obviously they have a lot of talent with 16 starting seniors. They are every bit as good as some of the teams we have faced this year and we have faced a few."
On the play of QB Dax Crum
"I am pleased with the way he played today. He managed the offense. The pick he had was when he was pressing when we were down a lot and in the red zone. I thought he executed the game plan and did what we asked him to do."
On his offense trying to find success on the ground
"We did have some success and we were able to hit a couple of seams. They have an excellent run defense and we will face another one next week when we play Utah."
On his team's schedule not getting any easier having to face Utah
"We are looking forward to getting home and starting on the drawing board to get a plan going for next week."
TCU quarterback Andy Dalton
On historically playing well against Wyoming:
"I don't really know what it is, but it seems like the whole offense has executed well against them. We knew we had to come out and play with intensity and just do our assignments and we were about to do that."
On the offense's approach to the game:
"We had a good game plan going in. We just had to take what they were giving us but we also had a couple of shots in there that we took. The first touchdown to Jeremy Kerley was one of our plays that we knew we had a chance of making a big play on. We did a good job today."
On spreading the ball around to different receivers:
"That's just how it is with this offense. We have so many different guys that are getting in there and getting in the mix. That's not something I was thinking about, we were just really taking what they were giving us. "
TCU defensive end Wayne Daniels
On moving to 6-0 and earning another shutout win:
"It's a great accomplishment. Coach Patterson was talking to us earlier in the week about being the best defense we can be. With this being our second shut out, I guess we're just picking up momentum. For the team, I guess it means a lot.
On preparing to face BYU:
"We're going to attack it just like we attack any other team. We're going to go to practice and practice hard. We're going to let the chips fall were they may and play hard. That's about all we can do.
TCU safety Tekerrein Cuba
On using Alex Ibiloye as a mentor:
"When I am on the field he's like a coach to me. He tells me what I can do, what I can do better and things like that."
On players stepping in for injured players:
"When one person goes down, the coach is going to get the next person who's ready to go. So you've got to give it to the coaches for doing a good job of getting us prepared for the game."
TCU tailback Ed Wesley
On his second quarter touchdown run:
"I sat on somebody's shoulder. It happens to me all the time because I'm so short. A lot of people think I'm down when I'm really not. I just kept my legs moving and tried my hardest to get in the end zone."
On the play of his offensive line:
The offensive line is just amazing. They're all upper classmen and we're either losing them or next year is their last year. It's nice to have a lot of strong, experienced guys. It makes it a lot easier for all of the running backs."
