WACO, Texas - TCU's women's tennis team finished its competition at the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals on Monday with its last doubles team falling in the quarterfinal round at the Baylor Tennis Center.
Federica Denti and Katariina Tuohimaa dropped a tough match to Maria Lesniak and Heather Steinbauer. The top-seeded duo from SMU downed Denti and Tuohimaa, 8-5.
"The other team was really good," TCU coach Dave Borelli said. "We had three games that hurt us and we had a couple chances to break them late in the match, but were unable to convert.
In their first event as doubles partners, Denti and Tuohimaa were 2-1. After transferring from Sam Houston State, the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals was Denti's first competitive action as a Horned Frog.
"It was a good tournament for us," Borelli said. "Our doubles were good. I'm confident we will continue to improve going into the spring. The girls are willing to get better and have been very positive during the fall season."
TCU closes out its fall schedule Nov. 5 at the HEB Baylor Invitational in Waco.
