Denti, Tuohimaa Advance to ITA Regional Quarterfinals

WACO, Texas - TCU's Federica Denti and Katariina Tuohimaa advanced to the quarterfinal round of the doubles bracket Sunday at the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals at the Baylor Tennis Center.
The Horned Frog duo was an 8-3 winner over Cristina Danaila and Karolina Filipiak of Baylor. Denti and Tuohimaa are slated to take on first-seeded Maria Lesniak and Heather Steinbauer of SMU on Monday morning.
"I was very pleased with how they played today," TCU coach Dave Borelli said. "They were in control the whole match against a very talented and well-coached team from Baylor. We've been working hard in doubles and we are getting some good experience for the spring season."
In other doubles play, fifth-seeded Kristi Damico and Aeriel Ellis of Texas downed TCU's Maria Babanova and Idunn Hertzberg by an 8-5 score.
In the consolation singles third round, Hertzberg dropped UT-Pan American's Suncica Strkic, 6-1, 6-1. However, Hertzberg had to withdraw from her quarterfinal match with an injury.
Denti dropped a tough three-setter in her consolation singles third round match, falling 6-4, 3-6, 10-7 to No. 14-seed Jessica Jackson of Rice.
