TCU W. Tennis Competes at ITA Texas Regionals

WACO, Texas - The TCU women's tennis team was in action today at the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals at the Baylor Tennis Center.
The Horned Frogs competed in nine different singles matches, amassing a 4-5 record on the day.
In the Round of 128, TCU got wins from Shalini Sahoo and Maria Babanova. Sahoo downed Carlene Leyden of Texas 6-1, 6-1. Babanova picked up a 6-2, 6-2 decision of Lamar's Alessandra Penessi.
After dropping to the consolation round after first-round losses, Idunn Hertzberg and Federica Denti advanced to the consolation third round.
Hertzberg was a 6-0, 6-2 winner in her consolation first-round match with Lamar's Brittany Tobin. Denti added a 6-3, 6-0 win in her consolation first-round match of Rebecca Calvillo of UTEP. Both Frogs earned consolation second-round byes with their wins.
TCU returns to action at the USTA/ITA Texas Regionals on Saturday morning with doubles play and in consolation singles.
Denti and Hertzberg await their opponents in the consolation third round, while Katariina Tuohimaa squares off with Texas A&M Corpus Christi's Bianca Discordia in the consolation second round.
