
Frogs Stumble At Wyoming

LARAMIE, Wyo. - The TCU Horned Frogs dropped a 3-0 (11-25, 22-25, 20-25) decision at Wyoming Saturday afternoon in Laramie. TCU was paced by eight kills each from Christy Hudson and Jordan Raines.Kristen Hester and Irene Hester each contributed six kills, while Meghan Horio tallied four. Horio dished out 24 assists and tallied two aces to go along with four digs. Irene Hester led the Frogs with eight digs. Hudson and Raines were the team's leading blockers with two each.
Wyoming stole the momentum early as the Cowgirls stormed out to a 14-7 lead in the first set. The Frogs tried to keep the set close as Raines dropped in six kills, but the serving of the Cowgirls proved to be too much. Wyoming totaled six service aces in the set to take the early match lead with a 25-11 win.
TCU fought hard to get back in the match as the teams battled through eight ties and five lead changes in the second set. After falling behind 4-2, Kristen Hester spurred a 4-0 rally that would give the Frogs their first lead of the set, 6-4. Kristen Hester served up an ace and back-to-back kills by Hudson put the Frogs on top.
The Frogs clung to their lead, working the set to a score of 15-13 on a kill by Kristen Hester. The Cowgirls staged a furious comeback as they erased the deficit with a 5-1 run. TCU would never recover from the run as Wyoming pulled out the 25-22 set two victory.
Wyoming led wire-to-wire in the third set en route to the 25-20 victory. An early push by the Cowgirls saw them open up a 12-4 lead that proved to be too much for the Frogs to overcome. The serving of Hudson helped the Frogs creep within eight, 13-5.
The Cowgirls never let the Frogs get any momentum and found themselves with game point leading, 24-15. TCU staved off match point with a 5-0 run that was aided by a kill and an ace from Horio, as well as three attacking errors by the Cowgirls. A Lauren Whitney kill locked up the match win for Wyoming.
TCU falls to 12-8 on the season and 3-3 in league play. The Frogs return home for a pair of league contests beginning Thursday night when they host Utah. First serve is slated for 6:30 p.m.
