
Equestrian Falls At Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. - Junior Jessica Hagen captured MVP honors in Equitation on the Flat on Friday, but dropped a 13-6 match to Auburn University at the Auburn Equestrian Center."We did not ride as well today as we are capable of," said head coach Gary Reynolds. "A few mental errors here and there cost us the game."
Hagen led TCU in Equitation on the Flat, downing Lindsay Portela, 78-61, while fellow junior Milana Trimino was also victorious, upending Anna Schierholz, 66-60.
"Jessica Hagen and Milana Trimino continue to be strong for us in Equitation on the Flat," said Reynolds.
In Reining, Kelsey Huffman recorded a victory over Paige Monfore, 65.5- 62. Freshman Kolby Simonson and senior Carrie von Uhlit also tallied points for the Frogs on Friday. Simonson, a Durango, Colo., native, downed Kristin Hansen, 68-67.5, while von Uhlit defeated Kim Pope, 70-69.5, to close the TCU scoring.
Overall, the Purple and White won the Reining competition over the Tigers, 3-2.
"I thought the Reining team was on target today. They did a very good job for us," said Reynolds.
In Equitation over Fences, Victoria Lee scored the Frogs lone point in the event, beating Dottie Grubb, 74-68.
"Victoria Lee was a star for us today in Equitation over Fences," said Reynolds.
With the loss, TCU moved to 1-2-0 on the season, while Auburn improved to 1-0-0.
The Horned Frogs will continue action on Saturday with a contest at Georgia, who claimed the Varsity Equestrian National Championship last spring. Start time for the contest is set for 1 p.m. CT in Bishop, Ga.
