Tucson, Ariz. - TCU junior Travis Woolf (Fort Worth, Texas | Paschal H.S.) captured his first title of the 2009 summer circuit as the Fort Worth product recorded a victory at the Southwestern Amateur at the Omni Tucson National Golf Resort in Tucson, Ariz., this past weekend.
Woolf finished the four-day tournament with a 10-under-par score of 278 (72-71-65-70), including a 7-under-par score of 65 in the third round of action - which was the lowest round shot at the Southwestern Amateur. The TCU junior held a two-shot lead over Michael Jensen of Los Altos, Calif., heading into the final round before recording a 2-under-par score of 70 on the final 18 holes of action.
In addition to Woolf, the Frogs were well-represented at the Southwestern Amateur as sophomore Scott Roudebush (Austin, Texas | Austin H.S.) finished 24th overall with an even-par score of 288 (68-73-74-75).
Tom Hoge (Fargo, N.D. | Fargo South H.S.) finished 32nd overall while James Sacheck (The Woodlands, Texas | Zionsville H.S.) and Eli Cole (Beverly Hills, Calif. | Harvard-Westlake H.S.) each tied for 40th overall.
With their showings, Woolf and Roudebush each earned an automatic spot in the 95th Annual Southwestern Amateur to be played at the Sycuan Golf Resort in El Cajon, Calif., next summer.
