
Frogs Top Cowgirls in 10-9 Victory

FORT WORTH, Texas - The No. 7 Horned Frog equestrian team (9-5) defeated No. 6 Oklahoma State, 10-9, in Mansfield on Sunday afternoon.
Taylor Frederick led TCU in equitation over fences as the freshman topped the Cowgirls' Taryn Nolte, 85-65, en route to bringing home the event's MVP title. Lauren Quiroz and Victoria Lee also posted victories for the Frogs after earning scores of 83 and 80, respectively.
Quiroz was the lone victorious Frog in equitation on the flat as the sophomore defeated Oklahoma State's Jen McLaughlin, 79-77. Quiroz's equitation on the flat win was her third of the season.
The Frogs upended the Cowgirls, 4-1, in horsemanship as freshman Courtney Chown was named the event's MVP after earning a 74-71 victory over Nichole Chirico. Senior Chloe Baker also notched her tenth win of the season after scoring a 70.5.
In the reining event, Carrie von Uhlit led all scorers after posting a 74.5-73 win over the Cowgirls' Molly Tipton. Sophomore Kelsey Huffman earned her tenth victory of the season in reining after posting a score 71.5.
"It has been a great season and I am really proud of our girls," head coach Gary Reynolds said. "Now our focus is to get prepared for the national championships in April."
Today's contest was the final regular season match of the 2008-09 campaign. The national championships will be held at the Heart of Texas Fair Complex in Waco, Texas April 16-18.
