
TCU Concludes Day One at Fresno Tournament

FRESNO, California - The No. 7 TCU equestrian squad finished day one at the Best of the West Tournament in Fresno, California. The Horned Frogs topped Fresno State, 7-5, in the first round of competition.
In the hunt seat division, the Frogs beat the Bulldogs, 2-1, in equitation over fences. Senior Carrie von Uhlit earned the event's MVP title after defeating Fresno States' Katie Nenneker, 78-72. Von Uhlit's MVP win made her the second athlete in collegiate equestrian history to get an MVP in all four events, behind former Frog, Kindel Huffman.
TCU upended Fresno State, 4-2, in the western division as sophomore Kelsey Huffman notched the horsemanship MVP honor after scoring a 77. Ashley Aikman posted a score of 70 in horsemanship en route to earning her fourth victory of the season.
The TCU reining team was led by Von Uhlit and Ashton Mickunas who each earned wins for the Frogs. Von Uhlit earned her fifth straight MVP title in the reining event after topping the Bulldogs' Jill Tebbe, 71-66.5.
In the second round of action, TCU fell to South Dakota State, 6-5.
Sophomore Milana Trimino defeated her opponent and earned her second consecutive MVP title in equitation on the flat. Juli Skobel also notched a win in equitation on the flat, her second victory of the season in the event.
Freshman Courtney Chown earned her third straight MVP honor in horsemanship after beating the Jackrabbits' Abby Knobbe, 73-59.
Kelsey Huffman posted her second MVP win of the season in the reining event after topping South Dakota States' Angie Gebhart, 72-70.5.
"We earned seven of the eight MVPs on the day and I am really proud of our team's hard work," head coach Gary Reynolds said. "Our hunt seat team continues to be on a roll and has been riding very well."
TCU finishes up action at the Best of the West Tournament on Sunday against Tennessee-Martin in the third round. Results can be found at GoFrogs.com.
