Stanford Wins LPGA Season Opener

KAHUKU, Hawaii -- Former TCU All-American Angela Stanford rallied from a three-shot deficit on the back nine in Kahuku, Hawaii, to win the SBS Open, the season-opening event on the 2009 LPGA Tour.
It was the fourth career LPGA title for Stanford and her third in the last seven starts.
Stanford closed with a 2-under 70 for a 10-under 206 and a three-shot victory over hometown favorite Michelle Wie.
Down by a stroke with six holes to play, Stanford recorded three straight birdies to take control of the tournament.
In 2008, Stanford went over the $1 million mark in season earnings for the first time in her eight-year career.
