
Frogs Drop 79-63 Decision to BYU in Conference Showdown

Kevin Langford (Fort Worth, Texas | University of California) scored 19 points and Zvonko Buljan (Split, Croatia | Vincennes University) added 13 points for the Frogs, but it was not enough as BYU notched a 79-63 decision over TCU in Mountain West Conference action on Saturday evening at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
With the setback, the Frogs dropped to 13-12 overall and 4-7 in Mountain West Conference action while the Cougars improved to 19-5 overall and 7-3 in conference play.
Jackson Emery connected on a three-pointer at the 14:39 mark to give BYU a 9-8 lead that the Cougars would never relinquish throughout the game. Thanks to a 69.9 field goal percent (16-of-23) in the first half, the Cougars would rally to take a 40-26 lead heading into intermission.
In the second half, BYU connected on 50.0 percent (11-of-22) of its field goal attempts and would not allow TCU to get within 11 points of the lead for the remainder of the contest.
Langford led the Frogs with 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting - including a perfect 8-of-8 from the free throw line - to go along with three rebounds, two blocked shots, one assist and one steal in 31 minutes of action.
Buljan notched his seventh double-double of the season with a 13-point, 10-rebound performance. The TCU senior also added two assists and a pair of steals in 31 minutes of court time.
Edvinas Ruzgas (Vilnius, Lithuania | Weatherford College) collected his third straight double-digit scoring performance after finishing with 14 points - including a trio of three-pointers - in 32 minutes of action.
Lee Cummard led the Cougars with 24 points while Jonathan Tavernari and Jimmer Fredette notched 19 and 16 points, respectively.
The Frogs will be back in action on Wednesday (Feb. 18) at the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum when TCU plays host to the Air Force Academy in Mountain West Conference action. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m. Central Time.
