
Volleyball Opens NCAA Tournament Play Thursday

TCU NOTABLES
On Sunday, the Frogs earned their first-ever NCAA Tournament bid after completing the regular season with a 26-6 mark.
TCU extended its winning streak to three matches with two victories in the Mizuno Thanksgiving Classic hosted by Long Beach State.
The Frogs took back-to-back 3-1 victories over Long Beach State and UC Irvine.
TCU enters the tournament with a 12-1 record in its last 13 matches.
Christy Hudson led the Frog attack over the weekend with 28 kills.
RICE NOTABLES
Rice earned an automatic bid into the tournament after winning the Conference USA tournament.
The Owls enter Thursday's match with a nine-match winning streak.
In that stretch, they have lost just three sets.
Ashleigh McCord paces the Owls with an average of 3.93 kills per set.
Defensively, Tracey Lam is averaging 5.44 digs per set.
TEXAS NOTABLES
The Longhorns enter the tournament as the No. 2 national seed and the No. 2 ranked team in the country.
Texas has lost just one match all season (at No. 8 Iowa State) and has defeated eight ranked opponents.
The Longhorns are paced by Destinee Hooker's 4.87 kills per set and Heather Kisner's 4.08 digs per set.
TEXAS STATE NOTABLES
The Bobcats are the Southland Conference tournament champions, earning the automatic bid.
They are riding a 13-match win streak dating back to Oct. 17.
Texas State made an impressive turnaround after opening the season 1-7.
Jessica Weynand is the offensive and defensive leader with 3.17 kills per set and 2.61 digs per set.
SERIES NOTABLES
The Frogs and the Owls have met 12 times in the past, most recently on Nov. 18, 2008 (3-1 Rice in Houston).
Rice holds an 8-4 advantage and has won the last three meetings.
Should the Frogs play Texas State, it would mark the ninth meeting all-time.
The Bobcats are 6-2 against TCU, but the Frogs have won two of the last three meetings.
The last time Texas State and TCU squared off was on Sept. 25, 2007 in San Marcos (3-0 Texas State).
Should the Frogs meet the Longhorns, it'll mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
