
Rifle Sets Sights On Alaska-Fairbanks Wednesday

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU rifle team has its sights set on another victory as they host Alaska-Fairbanks on Wedneday. The all-day match is slated to begin in the morning. The Frogs have posted two impressive match scores in the early part of the season and are coming off a school-record effort in their last match against Kentucky.
SCOUTING THE HORNED FROGS
In their last match, the Horned Frogs defeated a previously undefeated Kentucky squad with an impressive aggregate score of 4,657. The aggregate score set a school record as did the air rifle score of 2,352.
Freshman Sarah Scherer impressed in air rifle as she fired a 594 in air rifle in the match after setting a school record with a 595 in her first collegiate action. Another freshman Caitlin Morrissey finished third in air rifle with a personal-best 588. Emily Paper posted a first-place finish in smallbore with a 582.
SCOUTING THE NANOOKS
The Nanooks got their first taste of action on Monday in El Paso, Texas. Alaska-Fairbanks came out on top in the triangular match that featured UTEP and Nevada. The Nanooks posted an aggregate score of 4,646, edging second place Nevada's aggregate of 4,564. They dominated air rifle with a score of 2,347 and took first place in smallbore with a tally of 2,299.
The shooter to watch for the Nanooks is Cody Rutter, who finished first in air rifle (592) and smallbore (583). Patrik Sartz finished third overall with a score of 588 in air rifle and a 577 in smallbore.
