
No. 7 TCU Falls To New Mexico State On Saturday

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - No. 7 TCU won the Western competition, but dropped a 13-6 decision to No. 10 New Mexico State on Saturday at the New Mexico State Equestrian Center.The Horned Frogs dominated Horsemanship, dropping the Aggies, 3-1. Senior Carrie von Uhlit garnered MVP accolades in the event with a 73.5-68 downing of Pamela Evans. The win for von Uhlit was her fourth win of the season and second MVP award. Kelsey Huffman and Courtney Chown also tallied points in Horsemanship for the Purple and White on Saturday. Finally, Ashley Aikman battled Megan Gould to a 67.5-67.5 draw in Las Cruces.
In Reining, junior Kelly Morris put the Frogs on the board, defeating Kate Goodwin, 67-64, while seniors Ashton Mickunas and Chloe Baker also posted winning rides on Saturday to lead TCU to a 3-2 Reining victory.
Overall, the Frogs outscored NMSU in Western competition, 697.5-690, including 353-347.5 in Horsemanship.
Freshman Jennifer Whitt lost a heartbreaker in Equitation over Fences, falling to Laura Bostwick, 70-69, while Houston native Juli Skobel just missed collecting a point for the Frogs, dropping a hard fought 62-60 decision to Amy Lang.
TCU will open its spring campaign at home on Jan. 30 against Tennessee-Martin.
