TEMPE, Ariz. -- In the first road test of the 2008 season, the Frogs' edged the Arizona State Sun Devils, 1-0, Friday at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium. TCU has posted a shutout in three of its first four games, one shy of its total number from last season.
Coming off of her Mountain West Conference Player of the Week honor and Soccer Buzz's Elite Team nod, freshman Jordan Calhoun scored the lone goal of the match off an assist by junior Lizzy Karoly in the 20th minute to give TCU the victory and net her sixth goal of the season. The score marks Calhoun's fourth goal in the last seven days. The cross from Karoly is her second assist of the season.
The Purple and White took advantage of a solid defensive output from sophomore goalkeeper Kelsey Walters, making five saves. The Frogs were out-shot by ASU, 16-6, and saw the Sun Devils enjoy more attempts from the corner, taking 10 chances to TCU's lone shot.
TCU remains undefeated on the season and look to keep the momentum in their favor as they take on Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, Ariz., Sunday at 2 p.m. CT.
