No. 23 TCU at No. 2 Oklahoma
Sept. 27, 2008
Attendance: 85,158
Final: Oklahoma 35, TCU 10
Team Notes
*TCU's seven-game winning streak, third-longest in the nation, came to an end. Even with the defeat, the Horned Frogs' 4-1 record matches their best to a season in the last five years.
*TCU's opponent scored first for the first time this season. A 24-yard first-quarter touchdown pass from Oklahoma's Sam Bradford to Juaquin Iglesias also marked the first time in 2008 that the Horned Frogs trailed in a game.
*The Frogs allowed a touchdown on the opponent's opening drive of the game for the first time in their last eight contests, going back to a Nov. 8 date at BYU last season. It was only the third time in its last 20 games TCU allowed an opponent to score on its opening drive.
*Oklahoma's 222 first-quarter yards of total offense represented a single game season-high for a TCU opponent. The previous best for an entire contest was 210 yards by SMU last week.
*TCU had three first-half turnovers after committing just one in its opening four games. The Frogs were minus-4 in turnover margin on the night after entering the game +12 on the season. Over the last four seasons, TCU is 28-1 when ahead or even in that category and 6-8 when on the negative side.
*TCU limited Oklahoma to only 25 yards net rushing on the evening. The Frogs have kept each of their past eight opponents under the century mark in rushing, dating back to last season's loss at BYU (Nov. 9).
*Tonight's attendance of 85,158 is the third-largest crowd to see the Frogs play. The top two were for TCU games at Ohio State (87,439 in 1973; 86,412 in 1969).
Individual Notes
*Aaron Brown's 75-yard kickoff return was TCU's longest kick return since Cory Rodgers went 100 yards for a touchdown on Sept. 24, 2005 at BYU.
*Ross Evans' 32-yard first-quarter field goal made him 7-of-8 on the season.
*Tejay Johnson's five first-quarter tackles surpassed his season total of four entering the game. He finished the game with a career-high five stops.
*Stephen Hodge recorded his first two sacks of the year. Jason Phillips and Daryl Washington also had sacks to give TCU four on the night.
*Steven Coleman and Nick Sanders both tied career-highs with seven tackles.
*Jimmy Young set a career high with 111 yards receiving. His six receptions fell one shy of the seven catches he totaled against Stephen F. Austin earlier this season.
