FORT WORTH, Texas- The TCU equestrian team (6-7) will wrap up its regular season Friday against Texas A&M (9-4) in Mansfield at 1 p.m. The matchup will mark the second meeting between these two, and the first-ever in Mansfield.
For the TCU seniors it will be the last home game. Seniors include standouts Kindel Huffman and Caitlin Sewell. Another senior Kat Rhode, is scheduled to get her first start of the season, as she rides in Equitation on the Flat.
The last time these two teams met, Texas A&M was able to get the upper hand, defeating the Frogs in College Station. A&M, comes in fresh off the Central Championships, in which they finished fourth. A&M has had a strong season, and has received the #2 seed in Hunt Seat, and the #4 seed in Western, for the Varsity Equestrian National Championship. Individually Caroline Gunn received the #2 seed in Horsemanship, second only to TCU's Huffman.
With a win, TCU would reach the .500 winning mark for the first time in school history. Currently riding their longest winning streak in history at three games, the Frogs are looking to close out the regular season on a positive note, just two weeks from nationals.
After the contest against A&M, the Frogs will have two weeks off before heading to Waco April 17-19 for the 2008 Varsity Equestrian National Championship. All the action can be followed on gofrogs.com
