
TCU drops opener

Auburn, AL-The TCU equestrian team dropped its opener at Auburn Friday, 12-6.The Frogs were led by Carrie von Uhlit who continued where she left off last season, earning a point in both events she competed in. Von Uhlit also earned TCU's lone MVP honors for the day, earning an MVP in the Western Horsemanship, with a score of 73.
Von Uhlit was not alone in the team lead for points, as Chloe Baker also went 2-0. Baker was a member of TCU's National Championship qualifying team last year along with von Uhlit.
TCU debuted nine new riders Friday. Jessica Hagen faired the best, scoring an 80 in Equitation on the Flat to earn a point for the Frogs.
Out of four events the Horned Frogs did best in Western Horsemanship, defeating Auburn 3-1-1. The tie came from newcomer Kelly Morris, who scored a 71.5 to earn a split in the event. Fellow freshman Milana Trimino also earned a tie in one of her events, scoring a 75 to tie Auburn's Erin McMahon in the Equitation on the Flat.
TCU will be back in action tomorrow as it takes on South Carolina. It will be a rematch of the first round of last year's Varsity Equestrian National Championship, a match in which TCU fell just short 5-3.
