
On the Trails with Carrie von Uhlit

GoFrogs.com recently caught up with Carrie von Uhlit as she continues to train during the summer for the upcoming season.Von Uhlit was named MVP of the team in its inaugural season. She was the only rider in the nation to receive MVP honors in both English and Western events.
GoFrogs.com: What was your most memorable moment from TCU's inaugural season?
Carrie von Uhlit: Being named MVP of the equestrian team.
GF: How did it feel to be nominated to the NRHA Derby?
CVU: I felt honored to be considered a contender at the derby and to be TCU's representative.
GF: What have you been up to this summer?
CVU: I have been riding 15 to 20 horses a day with my aunt Lise von Uhlit and showing my reining horse.
GF: What do you like to do when away from the stables?
CVU: Inter tubing, golfing, slick tracking and wake boarding.
GF: What's your expectation for the upcoming season?
CVU: I expect that as our team grows so will our confidence and ability to perform.
GF: What was your favorite road trip with the team last year?
CVU: Going to the National Championships in Waco because I thought it was an honor to be invited as a first year team.
GF: What was more memorable, winning the first game against Auburn or competing at the National Championship?
CVU: Definitely competing at the National Championship. I felt like we learned a lot as a team.
GF: Do you follow any of the other TCU teams on campus? If so which is your favorite?
CVU: Yes, I follow TCU football. Go Frogs.
GF: Describe a typical day during the summer for Carrie von Uhlit.
CVU: Wake up at 7 a.m., have horses saddled and riding by 7:30, ride until 1 p.m. Take a lunch break. Wash horses, load the trailer or any other chores. Then go for a two mile run and then off to bed ready to start over again in the morning.
GF: If you could ride around the trails with any two other people of your choosing, dead or alive, who would you choose and why?
CVU: Lise von Uhlit because she is my role model and my idol. Guy Stoops because he was an amazing horseman and a dear family friend.
