Men's tennis edges No. 69 BYU, 4-3

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 74 TCU men's tennis team grabbed a 4-3 victory over No. 69 BYU on Saturday at the Aztec Tennis Center. The win improved the Frogs to 6-9 overall and 2-0 in the conference, while dropping the Cougars to 9-12 on the season.
"We really had to compete to get the win today," said TCU head coach Dave Borelli. "I think our energy level, not just with the guys playing, but the entire team, was the key to getting the victory."
In doubles play, the No. 23 duo of Kriegler Brink and Cosmin Cotet earned their sixth consecutive win together in an 8-5 triumph of BYU's James Ludlow and Dominik Kaufhold to move to 11-3 overall this season. Christopher Biro and Stuart Row earned the doubles point for TCU with an 8-6 victory over Cassidy Mears and Cale Planck at the No. 3 position.
"I was very pleased with how we performed in doubles, and especially happy with getting the win at the No. 3 spot," Borelli said.
No. 106 Cotet defeated his second nationally ranked opponent in two days with a 6-0, 7-5 defeat of No. 105 James Ludlow at the No. 1 slot. In the first set of his match at the No. 3 slot, Brink came back from a double set point to defeat Kaufhold 7-6(3), 6-2. Senior Radu Barbu put the Frogs up 4-3 with a 3-6, 6-1, 6-2 defeat of Mears.
